Mika & Julie design products from Studio Tolvanen on the island of Lauttasaari in Helsinki (hobbies include birdwatching & kayaking). Oregon.-based American designers John & Wonhee Arndt have backgrounds in sculpture and craft, and they have a playful approach to materials that is a great match for Pidät. In their design work, they pay particular attention to culture, history and technology, and how objects evolve to fit the needs of modern life. Studio Gorm has collaborated with international brands such as Normann Copenhagen, Memo, EQ3, and Good Thing. They also conceived the award-winning Furnishing Utopia project that brought designers from around the world together to study Shaker objects and reinterpret them for the 21st century for a series of exhibitions in New York, Chicago, and Stockholm.
